Today i visited a shop that had a fluval profile 100 (i liked very much :D ) so i now have a couple of questions :P firstly i can't have the above tank due to not having enough room to open the side doors :( unless i can convert the front to open, but i'm concerned about weakening the front of the cabinet and tank, does anyone think my plan is possible?
Now for the really stupid question :P i like the idea about having the piping go through the bottom of the tank :D but if i were to order a custom made tank and have the holes drilled for me, where would i buy the pipework from?
Would the fluval size tank be big enough to house a powder blue, picasso, emperor angel and a lemon peel?
many years ago i had the above fish minus the lemon peel in i think it was called a minireef set up ;)
thanks for all your advice so far

Hi in answer to your questions I do not think removing the tank centre support would be feasable as you would not have enough support for the middle of the tank.Secondly the tank is not big enough for the fish you would like.Thirdly the pipe work you need for a drilled tank is ordinary plumbing pipework.

I dotn know how big the tank you speak of is if you can tel us how many litres it holds or its dimensions?

An Emperor wil grow to a foot or so(15inches) and be very argumentative destructive and noisey, PBT abut 8-9 inches , lemon peel 4.5 inches and the Picasso 9.8 inches.

You would need a tank of at least 6x2x2 foot IMO bigger would be better.

The Emperor and the dwarf angel will nip corals as will the trigger fish, some PBT`s do also.

I agree with the statement above about the tank also :D

thanks for both your replies, the tank i looked at would hold 275 litres, it was 40 inches long 20 inches in depth and 23 inches in height.

I agree with the statement above about the tank also :D

Well you would not be able to keep these fish IMO in a tank that size , very small ones if you intend to upgrade well yeah that would be Ok but they do grow quickly. In 4 years i had a Emperor go from baby markings and about 3 inches long to over 8 inches and fully marked .

he ate so much coral lol and became so agressive and noisey(loud knocking)i had to rehome him.

Lemonpeel no prob at all they are very small .

At least if you get a tank made you can make the best use of the space you have by getting one that fits perfectly and can have a sump set-up which has to be better than the other options. I would love to convert my tank to sump but just dont want the risk of having it drilled.Because the plumbing is just standard stuff it is available cheap unlike some of the accessories associated with other filters.

Hi, i'm feeling really gutted at the mo :( originally i had space for a 36 inch tank, then i worked out if i changed my lounge around i could go to a 40 inch tank. Which seemed better for the fish i wanted :P now if i can't have them fish :( i will go back to 36 inch tank.
Will probably leave you in peace now and spend time thinking about my next move :D

You can have Pygmy angels and dwarf angels , they will mix and and are colourful. If youintroduce them carefuly you can often mix dwarfs tho sometimes battles ensue .

The big angels are a problem tho , i have had a Majestic angel for over 2 years and its hardly grown at all, it will im sure have the same probs as the Emperor as it gets older but its taking much much longer to grow to its 10 inch max. It could be an alternative for afew years? They dont go thru a colour change and in 5 years if you get a small one to start who knows yu may be able to have a upgrade? If not it will still be able to be sold on and not be too big no one wants it?

Theres a whole host of small fish that are colourful you can have :D

How wide and deep a tank do you have room for as this will make a big difference to overall volume, some of the cleair tanks are quite tall so the water volume is far greater, just a thought but it may help with what fish you could stock.
For example if you went for 40"x24"x30" that would give you a volume of around 400 litres so almost half again, in theory you could then have more fish i think.Might need to custom make it though.

On the hood front if he can build something that maybe is ventilated and a tad higher than the norm to allow for heat and oxygen exchange.
