Hope you like, some practice pics....
There are some more tank inhabitants but they seem to be camera shy!
Pics are HQ so should look better when clicked on.

looking good , salt lensing is whats screwing up the focus a bit ... its a bugger but adjusting the angle of the camera helps ... other than that you seem to have everything good ,

can i ask do you do much post work or is that the results as they fall out of the camera?

Thanks, if you mean do i do anything to the pics, no thats as i take em. Any tips would be great.....i dont get how the first pic is so clear and the rest look slightly out. I'm using a Panasonic Lumix FZ100 bridge camera on a custom set-up but all the settings are just plicked out of the air.

Thanks for the nice posts people. Some would turn there nose up at a soft/LPS tank, but for me i love these type of coral the way they look and move. I do have some sps frags and one nps but for me its softies all the way!

dude that is some sweet results for no post work , by that i mean adjustments in photoshop or the like

the blur is caused by the salt ... it acts like a lens, look at the back of a rectangular tank with salt water in it ... it looks concave, that screws with auto focus , ... take the auto focus off ,  it also screws with your eyes if you like me have to wear specs

it also screws with depth of field , use a smaller aperture  ( manual mode , aperture priority ...)

bigger number smaller hole = larger depth of field  ...thats the distance from the front to back of the object that will be in focus, obviously this lets less light in and every time you step the aperture down a notch you have to step the exposure up a notch to match it ,

you can do this manually on full manual or set the camera to aperture priority where you tell it the aperture and it sets the exposure time for you ....

and now it occurs to me i could be trying to teach my granny to suck eggs ... i dunno what level of understanding you have so rather than rattle on i`ll let you ask questions  :)

Thanks mate, its all new to me. I recently upgraded from a compact and got a bridge on a whim i know nothing about them so just playing around at the mo. Most of the family pics and that kind of thing are all taken on 'auto' i just use my tank for playing around with settings but find it all hard. When i get time i will do some reading up about it, but in the mean time tips like those are great!!! :good:

I must admit, I am with you all the way on the soft coral's, I love the way they move around... Gives the tank alot of interest.. Dont get me wrong, some of the others are stunning, but, I think its softies for me too.....

Sean, great info on the camera settings. I recently upgraded to a bridge too and never get it off of auto, so might have a play later on too :)
