hi,is my female clown is for having babbies .she has dug out a large pit in the sand. im a marine newbie looking for advice.

Clownfish do not dig pits to lay eggs.
They will select a hard surface, like a bit of rock and both will spend some time cleaning it up. After it is clean mum will show her ovipositor (egg laying tube) then attach the eggs to the cleaned surface. Dad will follow her fertilising the egg nest.
You can easily see the patch of small orange dots which will darken over the next week or so before hatching.

agree, but i have seen clowns digging, well they use there fins to waft the stones away and sometimes use there mouth.
i guess a video would be only 100% to see the behavior , but its my guess they are just making themselves at home

Yes they will waft and remove sand with the mouth , but the eggs are stuck with a filament adhesive to something firm, she wont be laying in the sand, unless there is something solid down there. I think they are setting up home/territory. My two used to dig holes under the nem and dad would sleep there with mum right in the nem, but the eggs were layed on the rock that the nem was attached to.

yeah they are making room for a shed and a trampoline ... definately settling in ... happy !!
mine spawn on undersides of rock in flow but out of sight ... they are only young though so its a small rock with no garden
