Hi All

I seem to have blanket weed on my live rock which has grown in the last week or so. I first brought 10kg live rock  which was matured nicely but because i have`nt put anything in the tank yet (fish, corals, shrimps) then this is why i think i have got it. But how can i get rid?  Hoping to put my newcomers in at the week end.

You should find some info in there... Clean Up Crew's and getting the tank balanced is the key... can take a while though I'll warn you now

let the tank cycle .. add some clean up crew ... well ...a lot ...

its not really a lot it just seems so ... in the wild the rock is teeming with such

read thru the appropriate forums as advised

it will soon settle down once the tank is crewed

best of luck and dont be as lazy as me  in posting pics :drinks:

Thanks EvilSean :good:

Well just a update.........
My tank has been running very nice in the last few weeks and all my test are 0 which is good news (it is best to try and buy the maturest live rock possible as my first lot must of been 6-8 weeks old which come from the display tanks). My protein skimmer is doing a fantastic job (pictures to follow).
I spoke to my local aquatics and they said the weed is not a problem, just natural and this will die down when i start stocking. Today i am picking up my first purchase, pictures to follow. I know some of you may not agree with the running of my tank and i will take advise from my local and you marine fanatics. My tank has gone through the first stages.

Well i hope you will look forward in to see my picture later on today.
