Thanks guys. Well I have just started with Marine fish so not got a clue really. I've had tropical for years and decided that I would try something different. I've just got a river reef 48l tank and filled it with ready mixed salt water and added 5kg of live rock and sand.  Just ordered my skimmer so hoping that will be here soon. I've had it all set up about a week now. Everything seems to be ok. I've noticed today that I have a clam. Not sure where he was hiding and also looks to be a baby star fish. It's minute. Also a thing came out of a hole in the rock that looked a bit like a daisy and when I got close it went back in. Does anyone know what this is? I am going to leave my tank for at least 6 weeks before adding fish to make sure my water is perfect. Also on my rock there are loads of red dots growing out and what look like little white roots. Are these corals growin? Any advice is welcome as I want to do this right.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Hi

Live rock is full of different organisms, which is why it is so expensive.  For detailed ID, we would need clear pics.  Asternia stars and baby brittle stars are common hitchikers.  The daisy could be a type of spagetti worm or aiptasia even, not sure without a photo.  The white roots are most likely tube worms.
